AMAZONIAN JUNGLE
PTO. MALDONADO - Ecological Program
(3 days / 2 nights)
1ST DAY: ISLA DE LOS MONOS
Arriving to the city of Puerto Maldonado we shall go to the port to board the boat that will lead us, into an unforgettable crossing, through the river Madre de Dios. Along the route we will observe alligators, turtles, herons, and other species of the area. When arriving to Ecoamazonia Lodge we will enjoy an exquisite typical drink of welcoming, then installing ourselves in bungalows in order to take lunch thereafter. Later on, with our specialized guide, we will visit the Isla de los Monos (Isle of Monkeys), only five minutes away from the Lodge, in the middle of the river Madre de Dios. That island shelters different species of monkeys: since the noisy maquisapas, the joyful achuņis and the impressive frailes (monks) till the tiny and happy leoncitos (small lions). Along the route to the island we will see the beautiful sightseeing of exuberant flora and fauna, as well as a wonderful and solemn sunset -a very impressive characteristic of the jungle.
2ND DAY: COCHA PERDIDA
After having breakfast we will initiate an adventure through virgin jungle, accompanied by a local guide. We will do internship treks in order to arrive to Cocha Perdida -a refuge and feeding ecosystem with an immense variety of animals, such as otters, alligators, turtles, sachavacas, birds of multicolor feathers, the majestic jaguar, and fishes. This area is unique and belongs to the Natural Reserve of Ecoamazonia, still intact, with huge marshes and diverse floated areas. Then we will arrive to the outstanding Amazonic viewpoint, built on top of the most immense tree: the Shihuahuaco. There the magical jungle may be appreciated. You may also take a cnoe-ride around the lake. Then we will return to the Lodge to have lunch. And in the afternoon we will canoe-ride again, at the river, for visiting a local family. After that we will return to the Lodge to have lunch.
3RD DAY: RETURN TO CUSCO
After having breakfast we will board the boat back to Puerto Maldonado, where we will take the return-flight to Cusco.
