TREKKING
CHOQUEQUIRAW
(4 days / 3 nights)
This is the second most important city of our Inca territory. Choquequiraw is, as Machupicchu, well conserved, being as well a complex of considerable dimension. This trek starts in a small village called Cachora, belonging to the valley of the river Apurimac. We will descend to this valley in order to walk uphill till Choquequiraw. Along the route, we will appreciate the most impressive and beautiful mountains of the Vilcabamba range, such as the snow peak Salkantay, Humantay, Soray, Padre Eterno and others. This is a new and adventurous trek route.
1ST DAY: CUSCO - CACHORA (2900 m.a.s.l.) - ROSALINA (1510 m.a.s.l.)
Early in the morning we will depart from Cusco, in our private bus, to the destination of Cachora, taking us an average of four hours. There, after resting and a briefing about our route, we will continue the trek for three hours until reaching Rosalina, a village of the river Apurimac. There we will camp for the first night.
2ND DAY: ROSALINA - CHOQUEQUIRAW (3030 m.a.s.l.)
Early in the morning, due to the hot weather of the valley, we will continue our route. After crossing a bridge, above the Apurimac River, our trek will be uphill, through a moderate slope which will lead us to Choquequiraw.
3RD DAY: COMPLEJO ARQUEOLOGICO DE CHOQUEQUIRAW (3030 m.a.s.l.)
Early in the morning, we will have our guided visit of the archeological complex of Choquequiraw. The tour lasts about three hours, followed by lunch.
4TH DAY: CHIQUISCA (1950 m.a.s.l.) - CACHORA - CUSCO
Having advanced downhill in the trek -until Chiquisca-, the day before, we will continue to walk towards the river Apurimac, and then to Cachora. We will walk for approximately six hour during the day, arriving to Cachora where a bus will be waiting for us ito return to Cusco, arriving at night to the city center.
