LARES VALLEY
(3 days / 2 nights)
1ST DAY: CUSCO- HUARAN - CANCHA CANCHA
We will depart from Cusco, in a private bus, following the route to the Sacred Valley, towards the district of Huaran (2,850 m.a.s.l.). Here we may appreciate the diverse crops of the area. After two hours of trekking, we will arrive to Somacpampa, where we will have a snack. We will continue our excursion uphill, for two more hours, towards the village of Cancha Cancha (3,900 m.a.s.l.). Along the way we will pass gorgeous waterfalls, and the diverse flora of the area. In this site we will camp for the first night.
2ND DAY: CANCHA CANCHA - QUEÑOCOCHA We will begin our day early towards the village of Queñococha. Along the way we will pass two beautiful lagoons near the village of Acopata. Then, for two hours, we will walk towards the highest spot of our route, the mountain crossing of Pachacutec, beyond 4,600 m.a.s.l. Then we will descend to the passage of Candarian, which bears a large lagoon of the same name. There after, we will continue downhill towards Qollalay, where we will rest. Continuing with the route that leads to Queñococha, we will pass through a small village, dedicated to agriculture, called Quishuarani. Then, following the path uphill we will reach Queñococha (4,100 m.a.s.l.), our second camping site.
3RD DAY: QUEÑOCOCHA - LARES - CUSCO
We will walk in the direction of the thermal baths of Lares, climbing the last mountain passage: Culcani. Two spectacular lagoons, Wiki Cocha and Azul Cocha, which lay in front of the snow peak Qolquechacana and the waterfall Awayman, can be seen from the top. From there we will descend until reaching the village of Culcani. Then, after walking for four hours we will arrive to the thermal baths of Lares.
