Rafting Apurimac
RAFTING - Apurimac
(3 days / 2 nights)
The river Apurimac offers an exciting experience in white waters, catalogued as one of the top ten rafting trips of the world. In Quechua, Apurimac means "God's talker". The route starts in Cusco at a height of 4,600 m.a.s.l, crossing the Andes mountain range for about four hours, until descending to the canyon of the river Apurimac at about 2,000 m.a.s.l. This river is the most direct source of the Amazonas, therefore making of it the longest river of the world.
1ST DAY:
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m. Then we will travel for about four hours, passing through a height of 3,800 m.a.s.l. in order to descend until 1,700 m.a.s.l., where our adventure will officially start. At the river Apurimac we will impart you a security measures talk, then practicing in the river. Only when the passengers have acquired knowledge of the techniques of rescuing and commands we will start to descend across the river. We will cross it until our camping site for one or two hours (rapids type II and III), arriving at 4:30 p.m. in order to organize us. We will have dinner between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m., while we talk a little bit about the activity of the following day.
2ND DAY:
We will awake at 7:00 a.m. to have breakfast. We will enter the river at about 9:00 a.m. and cross rapids type II and III, then arriving to our first type IV rapid (Chute) After some type II and III rapids we will arrive to two ports (type IV rapids -not to sail -for security measures we will walk and not cross them). Then we will arrive to the rapids "Campo Minado" (Mined Field) and "Purgatorio" (Purgatory) among others, all of them type IV, arriving there after to another port, shortest than the others. We will have another series of rapids such as "Tres Marias I" and "the Z", type IV as well. Time to have lunch. We will continue our route to arrive to other rapids like "Tres Marias II", "Trinche", "Sin Nombre" (Nameless), etc., all classified as type IV.
