Salkantay Trek To Machupicchu 5 Days - 4 Nghts
The Nevado de Salkantay, one of the highest in Cusco at an altitude of 6372 meters, is considered a sacred mountain by the Incas. They are part of its wonderful view. Impressive peaks and glaciers along the road. The walk begins in the village of Mollepata. In our ascent appreciate a fabulous view of the snowy Humantay and Salkantay wing and down jungle (cloud forest) with a tropical climate, close to Machu Picchu.
1st Day: Cusco - Mollepata (2985 m) - Soraypampa (4200 m)
Pick up from your hotel at 4:30 am, to continue with a private Mollepata for 3 hours. We begin the walk after a light breakfast we began the ascent to the first camp Soraypampa approx. At 4 pm.
2nd Day: Soraypampa - Humantay Pass (4800 m) - Challhuay Camping (3900 m).
This day will ascend to step Humantay, through seven zigzag for 2 hours. From here one can appreciate the Santa Teresa valley and its mountains and lakes. Through a tropical valley start the descent Challhuay camp for the night.
3rd Day: Challhuay - La Playa - Santa Teresa (1600 m)
After breakfast we will continue to decline for 5 hours through orchards to the village by the beach. In this farming community will have lunch, then we will take a bus to the town of Santa Teresa. The third night, spend the night here but not before enjoying the medicinal thermal waters of Cocalcamayu a great way to relax after a day of hiking.
4th Day: Santa Teresa (2200 meters) - Power Plant (2,000 m) - Aguas Calientes (2000m.asl)
On the fourth day we walk through the valley of the River Vilcanota in the footsteps of the old train to Machupicchu hydroelectric plant. It will take four hours to get there for lunch. Then continue our walk along the railway to the town of Aguas Calientes. We spend the last night in a hostel.
Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Cusco
This day is special since early climb to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, walk uphill approx. an hour. Already in Machupicchu and after seeing the departure of son begin the guided tour of the major archaeological sites of the new wonder of the world. You can enjoy the time off or go Waynapicchu the afternoon take the train back to Ollantaytambo. In the train station, a bus will be waiting to transfer us back to Cusco.
